ideas to espalier vine on wall

i found the following photo in a gardening magazine - i would like to duplicate this idea - vine would be on brick wall of my home facing the west and would get the afternoon sun - i live in zone 7b - thanks for any suggestions

please note - i am duplicating vine on wall only - not the fountain - not the lights

The vine, doesn't it look like English Ivy? It's a nice project, good luck!

At my previous home in Zone 6 I used pyracantha against a house wall as an espalier. It's an evergreen shrub, not a vine. In the spring it has white flowers and in the fall beautiful reddish-orange berries. The foliage is glossy.

It does have thorns, however so, in keeping it pruned in the desired pattern, one usually endures several thorn stabs. - June
