Green Honey Suckle seeds in October

Posted by scarletdaisies 7 (My Page) on

I was wondering if the green seeds or berry will turn red in the winter? I have some green ones on my honeysuckle vine, but I'm saving seeds. Do I pick them green, or do they really turn red? I have never seen them do this.

RE: Green Honey Suckle seeds in October

I have coral honeysuckle. The green berries turn orange, then bright red, then will soften. I haven't grown from seed before other than one year when whatever came up died from the Easter freeze, so not sure if what came up was truly honeysuckle or not... those seeds were taken from some berries that escaped notice of the birds that usually get them as soon as they ripen. Maybe that's why you never see red ones?

Good luck!

Terri :]
