Our neighbors put up a butt ugly 8' wooden fence along the back of our property line. I would like to either use a series of trellises for evergreen vines to disguise the fence or espalier vines on it, again to disguise it's harshness.

The soil is clay, there is an underground spring that surfaces each spring, the vines would be on the north side of the fence and there is shade from other trees, although there would be morning and late afternoon sun.

Fast growing vines would be a plus!

Any ideas would be appreciated.
