help: bauhinia kockiana not growing

I bought a Bauhinia Kockiana last April 2009 from our local garden market. It was from a stem cutting and it is a foot tall.

I planted it on the ground wherein it receives sunlight from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. It is properly watered and I live in a tropical country.

The problem is, it never grew. It stayed the same in terms of height. The leaves drops and new leaves sprout. It is perfectly healthy but it just did not grow an inch since I planted it last April.

Any idea what could be the cause? I would really appreciate all the help I can get.

Did you spread the roots apart when you planted it? Perhaps it has the original root ball which is self contained.
