Hello folks ;-)

Just wonder the difference beteewn Pedata and Pedatifida: can someone help ? Is it the same ? I bought a Pedatifida in a french nursery online last year (see the picture, it's definitively cute), try to find the same in the web and none have the same flowers, nor pedata neither pedatifida, hower the foliage corresponds :-/

Take care :-)

RE: Pedata and pedatifida

hello etii
Is the throat hairy ?
Have a look at the following links :
Viola pedata
The photograph shows the bicolored form of Birdfoot Violet, which is particularly beautiful. This violet can be distinguished from other Viola spp. (Violets) by its deeply lobed leaves, and the absence of hairs near the throat of each flower. The common name refers to the appearance of the leaves.
Viola pedatifida
This violet is similar in appearance to Viola pedata (Bird Foot's Violet) because of their deeply lobed leaves, but the latter doesn't have a hairy white beard at the throat of its flowers. Also, the flowers of Bird's Foot Violet are slightly larger and often fragrant. In the upper photograph, the small deeply lobed leaves of the Prairie Violet are located toward the bottom in the center, peeking out from the dead leaves of grasses; the larger leaves behind and directly underneath the flower are from unrelated species of plants.

Let's see also All Viola thumbnails at http://plants.usda.gov

Nice to meet you on the net
Denis
With my apologies for my poor English

GREAT !
Thanks a lot for your answer :-))
I'd like to have the same knowledge as you have :-)
As we use to say here: "j'irais me coucher moins bête" (I'll go to bed less stupid)

Have a nice day :-)
Thierry.
