Violets from past

Last week, I was in Bourg-La-Reine at the exactly place where hundred years ago Armand Millet cultivated sweet violets ( Thanks Nathalie, for the map )
I saw there a lot of violets growing on a lawn around buildings.
Somme buds were presents and I bring back home some plants.
This one, following, is a marvellous lilac coloured one

An other one is white with a small touch of purple on the lower petal !!!

Amazing how hundreds years later, violets are always present at this place despite the new buildings.

Best regards
Denis

Hello Denis :-)

Great pic, thanks :-) Lovely lilac colored one !!! Is it an odorata (cultivar)or a wild suavis ?
I think the white one with a touch of purple on the lower petal must be C'zar white, mustn't it ? Anyway, that's the name it's given when it's sold here in Lyon ;o)

Cordialement.
Thierry.

Here is a link that might be useful: C'zar blanc

Oh, I'd have been camping on the grass, scrounging around for seeds to bring back home - of course plants too if I could! Especially if they were fragrant! Its always a good idea to travel with a spoon - just in case one has to mmmm pop one out of the soil into ones pocket! :)
