Hi Yasuko,

Good to hear from you, especially with news of new flowers opening - always a cheery sight.

Of my Japanese violets:
Today, the first flower opened on my Viola mandschurica. V. chaerophylloides was a few days earlier.
Both of these are in a cold greenhouse.

Your photo makes the plant look very lush - good enough to eat!

Hello Mike,

Your Viola is blooming too!
In my neighbour there (I guess it) is V.mandshurica. I don't notice if it is flowering now or not... I have to check tomorrow.
Which color in your V. chaerophylloides? Mine was very pale pink.(it is gone...)

You can see only the violet is blooming.

Hello Yasuko,
Thank you for your lovely photos. I agree with Mike, your violets do look good enough to eat! Is there a tradition in Japan of using violet blossoms and leaves for culinary purposes?
