RE: Let me know

Yes, wild violet flowers and leaves are edible. Be sure to wash them properly before eating. Instructions concerning washing violet flowers and leaves can be found on the Violet Society site. Go to the food and drink section for the instructions and for culinary ideas. The Violet Society is completely free with no dues, passwords or gimmicks.

Each issue of the Violet Society Journal contains a culinary page: www.sweetviolets.net

Be sure not to eat large handfuls of violet flowers/leaves. They contain violine which expands the mucous membranes and may cause diarrhea.

Let's have fun exchanging violet culinary ideas!
