| Hello, Violetor is a funny name...it makes me think about depeche mode's album "violAtor" lol ! Not exactly the same meaning I think ;-) Even if it's the perfect time for hybridizations: kind of rape ? By the way, what's the name of the violet you've posted ? Stemmed not stemmed ? Scented, not scented ? Kind regards. Thierry. |

| hmmm - looks like a V.odorata to me; the shape of the end of the stamen certainly puts it in the odorata/alba/etc group. If it is growing in the wild, it would be an escape. |
RE: Which Violet...V. adorata?

Bon Noir Etti & Good afternoon Mike Hardman, Violet flower had a 3" stem & 3/4" height, lightly scented. I'll look up V. odorata. Seen another non-blooming violet with 3" cerrated, spearshaped or lenghtened cordate-elliptic tapering leaf inn empty lot. Also seen old Hyacinth orientalis, invading "Muscari" Grape Hyacinth, & many dandelions there which the Orchard Mason bees love. ALberto1444 |

It must be "bonsoir etii" (easy nickname, I'm a boy with 1 D---, the T and 2 B----, the ii ;-)) , but good try :-) Don't worry, your French will never be as bad as my understanding of English sometimes :o) If it's scented, it might be odorata :-) Looking at the photo, it doesn't seem really happy :-/ Could be a cross too. It would be interesting to look at the pods so as to have a better idea. All the best. Thierry. |
