A wonderful accident!

A week ago I noticed the very first sweet violet blossom had opened, and picked it for my mother to enjoy as she walked around the waking garden. By the end of the walk it had wilted somewhat; she took it inside and submerged it in a tiny vase of water to rehydrate. After a day went by we'd simply forgotten to pull it back out, although I must say it looked pretty underwater. I bent over to take a closer look and - to my amazement - found that the water had become wonderfully scented of violets, and was even more potent than the flower itself had been! Pouring a little of the water out further offered further proof; every drop smelled wonderful. I had no idea the fragrance was so water-soluble, but now I am very glad for this little "accident".

RE: A wonderful accident!

Nice story, Stefan. I'll try it myself, to see if I can share some of the pleasure of your little personal discovery.
