| Dear PP... For my money, I would bet on Viola selkirkii... Cheers :-) ~* |

| Are the leaves really variegated? Very unusual. I have a Viola 'Dancing Geisha' from Heronswood that has similarly marked leaves, but leaves are different shape. I'm thinking Viola walteri? Anyway, I'd pot some up if I were you - great foliage. |

Brenda near Eno - Thank you for responding to this thread. This same plant which I was waiting to collect seed from, and at least transplant into another area (lots of foot traffic), is gone... the wall crevice it grew from was "cleared of debris". I am happy I have at least a photo. I do so hope it reappears next Spring, as I will be looking for it, to help it along. Best, PP |

Hi PP, You might look occasionally this year for pairs of tiny heart-shaped leaves popping up in the general area. Violets are great at throwing out seeds. |

Brenda near Eno - Thanks. I will look periodically. Best, PP |

Brenda near Eno - Well, THAT didn't take too long! I justed looked at the spot where the plants were removed, and voila, as you mentioned, " pairs of tiny heart-shaped leaves popping up in the general area"! Why THANK YOU!!! I now have the tiny seedlings in a flat in the Mist House, and will see to it to growing-them-on. My Thanks and Best, PP |

| That is a photo of Viola 'Sylvia Hart', a very close relative of Viola koreana 'Sylettas'. Sylvia's leaves come to a point, whereas Sylettas leaves are rounded at the end. |
Here is a link that might be useful: photo of Viola 'Sylvia Hart'

lilysgarden - Thanks so! The little seedlings are growing and I will check the leaf style, as they grow. But I think you are all correct about V. 'Sylvia Hart'. More soon! Best, PP |
