 o
prarie violet?

Hi, we have wild violets in dense clusters all around our yard and someone recently asked me what kind they were. I just assumed that (being in Missouri) they were prarie violets, but if someone knows for sure, please let me know. The flowers are around 3/4", and the leaves are about an inch wide and a little over an inch long. They stay pretty low to the ground, just a few inches up at most.

We have solid purple ones intermingled with these (shaped the same):

Thanks in advance!

Nice photo!
These are V. sororia f. priceana - the Confederate violet.
The lower flower is interesting since the blue patch is dispersed over the whole flower - rather nice. Is that a one-off, or are there many such flowers in your colony?
Mike
