I'm pretty sure I have viola sororia (and Viola sororia -f- priceana) in my woodland garden, but I'd like to be sure.
the web based key at the american violet society seems to confirm this.
I compared to my flower photos and managed to find one nearly spent bloom of the darker.
I couldn't find a source online to compare to V. odorata.
I'm pretty sure I never noticed a scent - how apparent is it in odorata? and mine appear to multiply by seed only.
here are some pics I have - figured they may help to see if I'm either on the right track, or way off.
the rhizome, flowerless w seedlings, and seedhead are random.
I don't remember which corresponding flower they belong to, sorry.
I will say the darker form occurs more frequently.
Rhizomes - never noticed any "runners":
very prolific reseeders:
seeds:
darker - sororia?
fairer - ??priceana?:
thank you for your assistance
