I have an area around the bed of a ginormous weeping willow which I have turned into a semi-circular shade bed. On the extra left and right side of the semi-circle bed I planted lily-of-the-valley and filled in the bed with 12 Etain Viola, 12 Freckles viola and 12 purple viola I got in a trade. The bed is in pretty have shade being at the base of the willow with just a bit of sun getting through at sundown from teh side. What will this bed look like in 3 years?

Oh it'll be very nice, I expect, even if 'Etain' has waned. But take piccies as the years progress; I, and I'm sure others here, would love to see your bed unfold.

Are the violas vigorous enough to withstand the spreading of the lily of the valley?

Mweider, I was just thinking that same question. Lily of valley will choke out just about anything. Good luck with the violets. Lainey
