V. odorata 'Royal Robe' fragrance?

I've just received an order of Viola odorata 'Queen Charlotte', and it turns out that the shipment instead contains the 'Royal Robe' cultivar. Will these be as fragrant as those I ordered?

Both are fragrant... A web search turns up info that 'Queen Charlotte' is very fragrant and 'Royal Robe' is fragrant. I think you'll need both -- and since you're gardening indoors, you MUST have a parma violet -- exceedingly fragrant!

Great idea, Van. By the way, Canyon Creek Nursery is said to be a very good source for all of these.

Van in NYC,

Parma violets are indoor plants? Do you know of a mail order nursery who sells parma violets? Or seeds of viola odorata? Thanks.

Logees Greenhouse has a large selection of Parma Violets. I kept mine indoors and perhaps due to lack of watering or maybe overwatering at times, I was not successful in growing them. But I will say this, when you buy them from Logees they could not be healthier, nor more perfumed. Try their website: and ask for their flower catalogue which is one of the best available. You'll find the selection of fragrant and Parma violets enormous!

Thanks, Joanmary! I'm overwintering mine in a cold frame, and will look over Logees selection in the spring.
