Looking for Old fashioned Violets

Posted by flamenco Hertfordshire (My Page) on

Hello there
Can anybody help me to identify the Violets that I am looking for please. I would like to obtain some of the Violets that used to be sold in Florists shops but seem to have vanished. They were sold in bunches.

Thanks for any information

RE: Looking for Old fashioned Violets

There are/were many cultivars sold in florists' shops, such as 'Princess de Galles', and various Parma violets. As the years passed some former favourites were supplanted by other 'new and improved' ones. There are denizens of this forum better suited than me to giving you a detailed answer, and some of these good folks happen to be growers and suppliers, so you should be in luck as regards obtaining some of these violets. Don't expect them to stock every old variety, however!
Have a little patience and see who replies...
