I have a ton of viola seeds, that are currently being stored in the refrigerator, when is the best time to sow them?

RE: when to sow viola seeds?

I haven't attempted planting violets from seeds directly but know first hand that mother nature does a pretty good job of getting the timing right. The best time to plant seeds of any perennial is when the pods ripen and pop open spilling their seeds to the ground. At least I have found this method of timing to work best for me....
