all seed pods, no blooms

I bought a labridorica a few months back, and while it wasn't in bloom when I bought it, I've had this one in the past and love it, so I bought it anyway. Problem is, it's never had a flower on it. It produces tons of seed pods and is spreading, but no flowers. Never a flower, it just goes from nothing to a bulbous green pod, to turning brown and busting open with seeds. What do I need to do?

RE: all seed pods, no blooms

Just wait!

The flowers with petals (chasmogamous) will come in the spring. What you notice now as precursors to the pods are the petal-less flowers (cleistogamous). Day length is a key factor in determining which type of flowers violets produce: long days lead to cleistogamous flowers.

Alternatives to waiting 7 or 8 months:
- get yourself a time machine,
- head for the southern hemisphere in a month or two.
