I've been so pleased with my Rebeccas (I have two, rather had...) this year. Unfortunately, something is devouring them! Help! One is probably gone, although I am hopeful it will try to put out some new leaves. What could this be?? Whatever it is leaves the stems completely stripped. It is also, I think, working on a Freckles viola that I have. The Freckles is much larger, with much larger leaves, but I see the leaves being devoured there as well. I have also noticed my Pansies which had been going strong all summer have been stripped.

Yikes! Please advise what you think it might be and what would be a good course of action. I am not fond of sprays but I did resort to spraying my remaining Rebecca. It is hanging on (whatever it is begins on the edges) but we've had quite a bit of rain lately, so I fear the spray probably gets washed away...
