Houseplant violets?

I am getting conflicting reports from the internet (isn't that always the way): is there any sort of viola that will thrive as a houseplant? I'm looking for a small(ish) purple-flowering plant that will be happy in a pot indoors. African violets having such a finicky reputation, I'm wondering if any of the many real violet varieties would be suitable. Any suggestions, or should I leave these to the great outdoors? (It would take some willpower to avoid munching on the occasional blossom, in any case...)

Unfortunately none of the true violets are house plants! Anyway, you can have inside some bouquets or you can bring into home some flowering plants for few hours when you have guest or for one or two days of decoration...You can also use some flowers in meals...Another way to enjoy violet at home... Parmas violets can appreciate cold frames so if you have an unheated veranda it can be ok for them... |
