Named violas - U.S. nursery

Posted by marguerite Ireland (My Page) on

I came across a nursery in the U.S. tonight which sells named violas; since I have been told they are very hard to find over there, I thought I would post the name for anyone interested here. The company is called, and they say it is pronounced Squim.

These plants are readily available in the UK, so I hope this helps someone who might be looking for them in your area.

Thank you, Marguerite . I look far and wide for different violets- my daughter loves the scent of violets and her little shade garden grows nothing else!

Glad the post helped, ,princesspea, also that there is someone coming to this forum now and then.

Thanks - I hadn't heard of them.

It is a shame John Whittlsey's Canyon Creek Nursery (Oroville, CA) seems to be no more (the web site redirects elsewhere).

But there are other nurseries listed in the American Violet society's pages
(though I haven't tried any of them in recent years).

There's also a good list of suppliers listed against a wide range of Viola species at Dave's Garden web site
(I can't give you a link because the site is blocked by gardenweb)
