Sounds an awful lot like Virginia Creeper.

I've been trying to come up with uses for all the pulled vines - rope, wreathes, baskets, support for beans & clematis, etc.

In its favor - it's better than poison ivy, the other bane of my garden.

If it's Virginia Creeper it should lose its leaves in winter; does it do that?

it definetly sounds like virginia creeper...i made the mistake of taking a small clump from a park and planting it by the side of my house, it grew very quickly attaching itself and pulling at the siding of my house. when the leaves turned in the fall, i noticed berries forming. i was afraid it would reseed everywhere. i dug out as much as i could of the roots and pulled the vine down. sure enough the next spring there were shoots in the same area. i had to go out about once a week to pull out shoots all summer. the roots seem to be everywhere. i hope that this spring will be different and the plant will give up trying!! good luck to you with your fight in removing or containing this vine. please post any things you find that work. lisa i am sorry i don't offer much help!
