I used to know this as burdock in England, and it was always great to rub on your skin to remove the sting of nettles it grew by. I've since started seeing it in my area, and now in my garden. The leaves on this plant are relatively small at only 10", but they often get quite larger, like rhubarb, but it's not rhubarb. Since this is fall, I expect these are fully grown for the year. The tap roots are like your worst dandelions.
BUT all the net searches I've done, including on GW, tell me that burdock looks just like this but shoots up flowers on stalks then forms nasty burrs. These plants NEVER do that. This is all you ever see. Everything else I've read describing burdock is the same.
Is this another variety? Is there a male and female plant? I don't get it.
Anybody know?
(The plants in this picture have been kinda trampled.)
