Does anyone know how to control/remove thousands of California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) starts from a garden? We rented out our house for 2 years and returned to find these things everywhere in the garden, between cracks in the pavers, etc.

Do I simply have to sit and pull up each little shoot or is there an easier way to get rid of these? I cannot use chemicals because it will damage other nearby plants.

Any advice greatly appreciated.
