Killing Johnson Grass around grape vines

I need to know if there is a weed killer or method that I can use to kill the Johnson grass growing around my grape vines without killing the grapes. I have tried for years to get rid of it and nothing works. I need something that will go down and kill the root system of the Johnson grass.

Glyphosate based products will work in the manner, but you will need to be very careful not to allow any drift or movement of the spray onto the grape plants. Unless you can assure this, it would be better not to use anything. Applying using a wick applicator, or lightly brushing it on will be a safer bet than spraying if feasible.
