There are a number of plants that have similar foliage to your picture. Wild carrot, Queen Anne's lace and poison hemlock are a few. Of those three I would throw a dart more likely at Queen Anne's lace. Need to let it grow and go to flower to be positive.

I took a pic of the roots. Some have little flower buds on them. I know they started growing before the lawn turned green. Also where they are at the lawn also seems to green much later than the rest but lawn growth is not affected.

Queen Annes Lace, wild carrot, prefers soils that are not very fertile, so if where this is growing is deficent in many nutrients you could assume what you have is QAL. However, if that soil is fairly fertile it will not be.

Maybe Pineapple weed? Matricaria matricarioides. Funny botanical name. Flowers are small yellow/greenish domes. Characteristic of poor soils around here. They smell funny when you crush the leaves, but not at all like pineapple IMHO.

that's queen's anne's lace. it's fairly easy to get out if you get it early. if it's already flowering then it's way harder to get out, because the roots are harder to work with. you need a shovel to get it out then.

The plants appear to be only a few inches tall. At that height I don't think Wild Carrot starts to bloom. Those plants get to be over a foot tall before they bloom around here, but maybe under different cultural conditions they do different things.

I think Dzitmoidonc is right, can we get a pic of the flower buds? Does the plant have a citrusy smell?
