It does look quite similar to crab grass. The single best means of control is with a pre emergent applied early in the growing season to prevent the seeds on your soil from germinating. Next best is maintaining a good, healthy lawn, a turf that grows tall and thick so it will shade the soil so these seeds cannot get the sun they need to germinate. Then learn what the early stages of grab grass look like so they can be pulled as soon as you see them.
