One source lists Wild Cucumber as an annual and another, closer to you, as a perennial so it may depend on where it is growing whether it is one or the other. Your best source of information about how to control this would be your local office of your University of California Cooperative Extension service.

Thanks for the info kimmsr! The fruits are fat and 4-6" long! I'm glad I don't have a dog. Those spines would be hard on a pet!!

After the wild cucumber plants start's to bloom the best way that I have found to get rid of it is by using a weedeater (string trimmer) or hedge trimmer to cut off the flowers, but you may have to do this a number of times, but you will prevail !!
