Help with weeds taking over

My grass has alot of bald spots. Its practically calling for weeds to fill the spaces. Next month I want to pull out what ever grass is there and put down a flagstone patio. What should I do in the meantime to stop the weeds from growing? I dont want to use chemicals.

I recommend getting some 4 mil black plastic and securing it with landscape staples over the area. If you are leaving it there for a month or more, the heat and lack of sunlight should do the trick.

I am actually using this on my garden beds prior to planting.
