It's a red cage stinkhorn fungus, now how do I get rid of them? I have only mulch in the area, no grass.

No need to get rid of them because they're a natural, non-toxic sort of thing. Won't damage plants.

But if you can't stand the smell -- some are very strong -- put them in the trash.

If you throw a bit of mulch over them, that should stifle the smell. Nothing to worry about.

I'm the only person on this board who'd love to have these...I love mushrooms. Not just as food but as "plants." Meanwhile, I have none (not surprising, on a balcony), and everyone else gets them and rips them up.

Neighbors 3 doors down have a spot where there used to be a tree. If it rains really hard at the right time of year, a "fairy ring" of big white mushrooms grows and it's really cool - until they go out & kick them all over. Awww! Not everybody likes them, but mushrooms are a sign that you have a good amount of moisture and decaying wood (mulch or roots under the soil.) Like when the teacher puts a smiley face on your paper.
