I have a creek running across the back of my garden & this time of year the algae grows in there like mad. Each sspring I spend a back breaking day pulling it all out by hand & rake. I have 167' of algae filled creek. I am getting older now & really need to try to find something to help with this.

Anything that could be used to clear the algae would have to be put in the stream above your property and would contaminate the water below your property. I am aware that you dislike the algae but the little creatures that hid in it and eat it need the cover and food.

seems like I've read that cornmeal helps with algae;
you might check into it, maybe google "algae cornmeal" or "cornmeal ponds" or some such.

best luck!
