Not sure what rustweed is. Do you have another name for it? Brenda

It is listed in Weeds of Southern Turfgrasses as in the Loganiaceae family. Latin name polypremum procumbens. The extension agent (local) said he had nothing listed except round-up, but I was hoping to find a herbicide that would not kill the grass. My neighbor has alot of this perennial and digs it out every year by hand. I don't want the wind blowing it this way!

According to everthing I have been able to find out, lots of southeast USA sites mention this plant, its prefered habitat is a meadow with sandy soil that is moist. Changing the soil it is growing in by adding sufficient quantities of organic matter so that soil drains better (as long as a high water table, or swamp land, is not why the soil is moist) this "weed" should stop growing. Covering the area with newspaper so this is deprived of access to light is a much better means of killing it off that any "weed killer" you can buy.
