Here is the photo of the orange pineapple thing

Hi,

I just took photo of the plant. I tried to capture the fruit part and the leaves in one photo. On the right are the leaves of the plant ( pointy triangle shaped) and to the left on the ground is the whitish thing which turns into bright orange later. Now that I think about it, it looks more like a cluster of berries shaped like a corn, not pineapple. Pineapple was a bad description. Thanks!

The photo helps a lot! looks like arum italicum, careful with this one it can be a bit invasive if conditions are right. It is lovely though.

Yes. I looked up the photos and it is Arum Italicum. Reading through the threads in the garden web, I guess it hasn't become a problem in my yard because I'm in California. I wasn't sure whether this was a weed because it looks lovely as you said. I will keep an eye on them ( I have several) now that I know they can be invasive.

I know it became a weed in one of the ranunculus beds at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens in NY. Of course I could not get it to grow in my home garden! LOL
