Weed ID?

These fuzzy weeds appeared in a bed this year. There are quite a few of them. They are near a lake in full sun mixed in with daylillies and daisies.

Anyone have any idea what these are? I don't see them anywhere else on the property.

I believe your weed is Rudbeckia hirta and the brown bits in the pictures look like animal or insect damage.

Depending on the site you might want to leave the Rudbeckia. They will be pretty in bloom but as you can see they are rather agressive. I've chosen to treat them as weeds in my own garden.
