Weed Grass around Beans, etc.

I have a type of weed grass that is growing out of control in my garden. It is dark green, has very deep root clusters, and spread like crazy!! It l ooks like the type of grass that grows after birdseed has been dropped on the ground. In the past month and a half, I have had success with organic gardening and companion planting, so I have not used any pesticides/herbicides. But now, I just can't keep up with the weed grass. I read the FAQs and was intrigued by the boiling water method and the vinegar method as I'm trying not to use chemicals in the garden. I did, however, purchase Preen Weed Killer that is supposedly safe for veggies, but I'm apprehensive about using it and I need to clear out the weed grass first. Are there any other natural solutions out there, other than pulling these little buggers out by hand? I don't want to kill my veggies/fruits, but I just don't think my back or my hands can take the amount of weed pulling that is currently required in my beautiful garden!
