ugly weed overtaking my garden (w/picture)

This weed is all over my garden right now. It seems to be spreading, almost as a groundcover. Any tips regarding identification, control, etc. would be appreciated. Is it just something that I have to put up with for a week or so and then it goes away? My garden is full of other low-lying plants and groundcovers, so I really don't want this little guy competing with/covering up my more delicate groundcovers. Thanking you in advance for any help!

It's one evil weed! If it goes to seed, it will be with you forever...which it looks like that's what's happened if you have it all over. Rip it out, root by root, or learn to live with it. I hate it! I have probably pulled hundreds already, and have not gotten them all. Never will.
