What kind of weed is it? How could I get rid of it?

This weed looking things are spring up in my garden. Is it something I should get rid of?

Hard to tell from the photo.....but it looks to me to be Crab grass seedlings....if so, pull them out and next year use a pre-emergent herbicide for crab grass

It appears to be Virginia Buttonweed. I have had tons of it for several years. Most herbicides say they will kill it. It is in my flower beds and lawns. I am in Tn..

Getting rid of unwanted plants while small and easy to handle is the key to maintaining control in a garden. If you didn't plant it, the odds are 99%+ you don't want it. When mowing, aim the chute away from beds to prevent throwing seeds into them. If it won't pull up easily, patches like this (solid area of unwanted plant growth) can be smothered.
