Millions of these growing in damp shade - any ideas?

I have literally thousands (might really even be a million) of these weeds growing in my garden in the shade areas, they pull out very easily, but they are mixed in through everything!

I am thinking maybe they came from some mulch we once got from the town. They are a bight green and form a dense mat.

I am determined to conquer them by pulling every single last one, but would love to know what they are and if I could do anything to prevent them next year! Thank you!

Looks like pilea pumila. Pull them out now and don't let them go to seed. It will take a few years to get them all but it's worth being vigilant. Easier to pull when small because the roots hold a lot of soil.

Thank you - that's definitely it, and I guess the trick is pulling before it seeds. It's just everywhere in my shade garden - I'll have my work cut out for me!
