What is this weed???

I first thought it was wild violets but they don't flower. And the roots look a little different from other wild violets we have. They are definitely easier to pull than violets. It's very fast spreading and taking over a little area (wet/shady area).

What's the best way to get rid of it and turn into a flower bed? I am open lasagna/newpaper smother method, etc. No weedkillers though.

Looks to me like you have both Wild Violet and Yellow Wood Sorrel. Wild Violet does not always flower for me, depending on the soil they are growing in.
I have had good results laying down some newspaper and covering that with some mulch material which will control what is growing in the soil, although later on both may well grow in the mulch.
