Violets

There are many native Violas, one of the most common is V. sororia, edible, host plant for several butterflies. Cute little flowers, and does make a lot of seeds, so you do get more and more of them. It makes seeds on the 'cute' and on specialized (cleistogamous) flowers that produce seeds without opening. Good if you like it, not good if you don't.

If that's not it, you might find yours by looking at the species known to inhabit your state, it will indicate native status. Without the flower, ID is difficult. Type viola in the box, click the mark for your state, click search.

It's necessary to smother it or dig up the roots if you want to evict Viola, can't be pulled, the leaves will almost always just break off. Same with the Nandina next to it, and the grasses, though if not for the gravel, the grass can sometimes come up with the root intact. Not sure if the Oxalis is O. stricta (branching plant with yellow flowers and a billion seeds,) or a desirable bulb type with pink flowers. If you see a tiny yellow flower, or leaves come from branches, not all from the ground like a bulb, I'd pull that so you don't have a billion more just like it next year.

It looks like freshly cut grass seeds are in the gravel area. Mowing with the chute facing away from areas where you don't want grass to sprout can help keep it out of unwanted areas, barring unhelpful gusts of wind while mowing. Mowing before grass makes seeds can help also, if/when you aren't waiting for the grass seed to thicken your lawn.

They throw their seed quite a distance.
I got rid of them in my garden w/ hand weeding until I finally got rid of them.
