Help with weed identification, please!

I have this weed growing outside. It has heart shaped leaves similar to Morning Glories, but it has been there two years and never flowered. I left it because I thought it was Morning Glories (which I love), but my mother in law came over yesterday and told me it was a weed. The leaves are much narrower and quite darker than my other Morning Glories, and since it has never flowered, I am inclined to think she is right. It twines around itself and spreads, as you can see. Plus my dog likes to nibble on the leaves. Anyone have any ideas as to what it actually is? Here are photos:
