Possible Weed?? Please help.

Please help--we have these red horn-looking growths coming out of our soil and are not sure what this could be. The "horns" or spikes are about six inches long, and are red at the bottom, then have a white ring around the middle then a little lighter red on top. Looks like a devil's horn or like an upside-down red pepper coming out of the ground. We have been uprooting them, but they keep re-appearing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Please help us also. We have a weed that looks just like rhubarb. Same characteristics but we have been told that it is NOT rhubarb. It is infesting our entire yard and is obnoxious to get rid of. I've mowed it down, only to have it grow in thicker. I am going to try the vineger trick next, but if this IS an edible thing, I don't want to kill it...I'll simply transplant it all. Thanks.
