Help, weeds are overtaking my lawn

Our town has implemented a no herbicide bylaw and my lawn has barely any grass left. It is full of some weed that looks like trefle with yellow flowers. I read about vinegar as an insecticide, but would like to keep the grass. Is there anything I could use that would kill the weed only? Thanks

The weed might be some kind of sorrel or oaxalis or something in the strawberry family (not sure from your description)? You can try corn gluten meal as a pre-emergent in the future unless your town has banned corn also. Check the lawn care forum for tips from lawn lovers and the organic gardening forum since you can't go chemical. Overseeding in the fall when weeds are less active might help also. I'm not sure about vinegar but I don't think it is selective.
