Large area Inexpensive total weed control

Posted by tudorose Florida (My Page) on

I have a LARGE driveway consisting of shell on top of sandy soil in Florida. I need a LOT of a TOTAL weedkiller as it gets full of weeds and looks very untidy.
Roundup etc is too expensive for such a large area-its probably about an acre in total-I want to kill ALL the weeds leaving just the shell. Would anyone have any suggestions for something effective (and hopefully long lasting) that's cheap? Would vinegar work? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Mechanical "weed" control is the least expensive way to go although it is more labor intensive, but it is more environmentally friendly than any of the "weed" controls you could spray.

"Would vinegar work?"

It might depending on the weeds in question? Are they annual or perennial? You need to ID the weeds 1st.

Regular vinegar doesn't work well on some of the more noxious weeds. Even then, you have to be diligent.
