In my experience, poison ivy looks somewhat different from area to area. We can't ID your plant without an image, but we can help YOU become the detective. Google "poison ivy leaves" and an image search to see as many variations as possible. Attached below is one such link.

Also, your 5 leaved plant could certainly be Virginia Creeper. As a matter of fact, VC and PI are often seen growing together.

thanks. Yes it IS poison ivy. Ugh! it's in my rocks, creeping into my lawn, and under my trees. WAAH. I am considering several options....any suggestions as to what's best? Round up did nothing but give it a tan. Now I am thinking blowtorch- just to kill the plant, not burn it. then, pull out and dispose of in garbage bag. Is there ANY easy way????

Roundup has a product made especially for poison ivy and woody plants. It looks just like the regular roundup but it has yellow on the label. I use it on my poison ivy and it does the trick but it takes about a week to really die. Don't burn it. The smoke is deadly...

I have a vine growing on the edge of our property that has jagged edged leaves that come off it in 3's. It's not poison ivy or VA creeper. Last year I saw little swirled heads on it, like what appears after a clematis has blossomed and the flowers die. It has not blossomed yet this year, so I still haven't seen what the flowers look like. When I first saw it last year, I thought it was some type of clematis, until I looked at it closer and realized that the edges of the leaves were jagged, not smooth. Any ideas?
