Bermuda Grass?

I have a few sections of grass that turn brown in the winter. At first it was on 3' x 3' area but it has gradually grown to an area about 15' x 15'.

I found a thread here that tells how to get rid of Bermuda Grass. My problem is, I don't even know if that is what I have. Further, when the grass is green, it looks just like all of the other grass in my yard (I have Fescue). Since I can't identify it when it's green, how can I put down any of the chemicals that will kill it?

Bermudagrass has runners (stolons) that are visible on the surface, whereas fescue does not. It also greens up much later and goes dormant sooner than fescue. The attached publication is rather technical, but may help you ID what you have.
