A "weed" is simply any plant growing where you do not want it, and most of what we call "wild flowers" can be "weeds". It does look very much like "Chenopodium" (that is the latin which should always be italicized or in quotes) or commonly goosefoot, lambs quarters, pigweed, and some others. A "weed"? I know people that grow this as a green manure crop and others that spend a ton of money each year spraying it to eradicate it. I have not seen any kind of flower, attractive or not, on this plant.

wow that is not what I was hoping to hear. Thanks though. As I mentioned these are the shaker cans from McKenzie which are found at Home Depot and the like. I called McKenzie and they cross-refenced with the list, and big surprise this one wasn't in the mix. I imagine it got in by accident? Is this common? I now have 2000 sf of weeds to pull!

Lambs quarters is edible, so you can at least get some use out of it while you're removing it. I've used it in stuffed pasta(as you would spinach).

To be correct, the botanical latin nomenclature convention is that latin names be italicized, or if unavailable, underlined. Quotes are not acceptable. Neither accepted option is available on Gardenweb forums without fussing with HTML code which is why I just wrote simply Chenopodium. I expect it got the point across to the inquirer.

Agreeing with noinwi here, Lambsquarters is actually quite good raw or collect in quantity and used like regular spinach. It's extremely nutritious cooked or raw. :) Just make sure the leaves are tender (the ones in the picture look like they are), or else they're pretty icky.

In the fall you can work to collect enough seeds to make a flour or gruel with them. *Shrug*
