kill everything in my drive way for good

I have a gravel drive way and it is being overrun with weeds to the point I have to mow it. I have tried every kind of concentrate weed killer that is sold at Lowes and have mixed them to twice the consistency that is called for on the bottle. Avery product has done great at killing everything initially but with in a month everything has grown back. Is there anything out there I can put down that will kill everything permanently or at least for a couple of months at a time?

Concrete. Asphalt. Seriously, there are several products that have super-long residuals but! If you have roots of good plants within range of your drive these products can leach and kill large established trees and shrubs unintentionally. You might consider the reapplication of lesser products to be the right answer if your shrubs, lawn and trees can remain alive and can tolerate them. Just a thought.
Dimension and Barricade are lawn pre-emergents that do a pretty good job on many weeds for the entire season. Check 'em out for your driveway.

Hi drock Our property has a shallow well, so we do not use any chemicals or weed killer on our gravel drive as not to get it into our water system. We use a propane tank and torch to fry the weeds. It's the best our driveway has looked. Do be careful around the edges when the grasses start drying out, either water it down or trench it. In our area, we also have burning regulations because of our forest, so check with local fire department or forest service to make sure it's okay to burn. When you first start, you have to be on top of it for a while, as the roots will take a couple of time to finally penitrate. Before we started using the torch, it was like you said, having to mow it. We had some weeds so big, I couldn't pull them out. I had to take a pick and shovel to get them out. NOT ANY MORE!!! We don't have any weeds in our driveway now, at least not until next spring. We got our torch at the garden center. Hope this helps

Contrary to what many people are led to believe by the TV ads, there is nothing that will keep Ma Nature from growing some plant on any soil, anywhere, except diligence on your part to keep that under control. The plant poisons, "weed" killers that many people use, and advocate using, are all part of what is poisoning our planet, adn they are much less effective than mechanically removing the offending plant.

As I have oft been heard to say, "four things in life are certain - death, taxes, grey hair and weeds"!
