Hatred of The Black Ash

9bark

Up until this spring we had a Black Ash planted in our front yard. I did not know what kind it was nor did I care as it provided needed shade and privacy. Unbeknowst to myself I didn't know how notorious this weed tree really was. The seeds are sharp, can dry out and sprout years later with little rain and soil (mulching) and have spread everywhere including my neighbours yards. Not to mention these seedlings sprout and grow fast! I'm pulling the small trees out of the ground in and around my garden and probably will for the next year or two until there are none left. I'm not sure if this Ash is considered invasive as I've seen it here and there around my city (Kamloops, BC Canada.) Anyone else have anything to say about The Black Ash? Dun Dun Dunnn!
