That kind of does look like it might be "Glechoma hederacea" which can be a tough plant to get rid of. Many sources still state that this plant is a shade plant, and it is, but it has adapted quite well to growing in full sun as well.
The best method of control is a good healthy soil that grows strong and healthy plants that can crowd this one out. These are adventitious plants and will grow wherever the seeds can find some place to germinate.
Soil pH, a balanced nutrient level, and ample soil organic matter seem to inhibit growth.
The place to start any control measures is with a good reliable soil test for soil pH and major nutrient levels and your Wisconsin State University does that through the Cooperative Extension Service.
You can spray a plant poison (2,4,D and Dicambra) and then in a few weeks spray some more and then keep doing that and harming the environment at the same time or properly correct the soil so that becomes unnecessary.

creeping charlie is a vine that grows in the soil in runners. This is not CC! To me it kind of looks like a crop of Plantain(babies) that was growing in my lawn that I had to get on my hands and knees and dig out with a sharp knife.

It isn't Glechoma hederacea. Looks more like Ajuga reptans to me.

Here is a link to some plantain growing thick, see if you think it's this? Apparently you can eat them? I've heard of using it for topical use.

It does kind of look like ajuga. Do you have ajuga planted as a ground cover that it could have spread into your lawn? Does it bloom?

The OP's plant isn't plantain - I'm sure of that.

You know, I was going around my yard picking weeds and growing in a driveway crack was this same plant I do believe. No, it is a tad bit different from plantain and plus is stays small and doesn't turn into a large plant like a plantain sprout does. I'm going to have to figure this one out because now I'm really curious. If it is ajuga, it is not like the variety that you buy in the store, it has no purple color.

Take a sample of that plant to your local office of your Wisconsin State University Cooperative Extension Service and tjey most likely will be able to identify it.
